陳肇彤|Chen Chao-Tung

1991年出生,2019年畢業於國立臺北藝術大學美術系碩士班,現於新北生活與工作。陳肇彤的作品常以空間、材質及物件所釋放出的視覺特徵來作為素材,並透過擷取、挪移、透析、複製等技法,探索視窗化的視覺經驗與實體之間的誤差,並將這誤差作為情感與記憶的寄託。近期關注城市及生活空間中的視覺表面架構與其使用者之間的關係,試圖從規格化及功能性的日常生產結構逃逸出來,以書寫潛藏於表面下的空間詩句。
陳肇彤近期的個展包括:「深度還原」,Ertz Random Space,台南(2024);「縫隙的深度計算式」,駁二藝術特區,高雄(2023)「頻寬」,非畫廊 PLUS ONE,台北(2022);「離岸星塵」,絕對空間,台南(2021)等。並曾於臺灣當代文化實驗場 C-LAB(2023)、高雄市立美術館(2022)、國立台灣美術館(2020)、關渡美術館(2019)、韓國 Hangaram Arts Museum(2018)等機構展出。
Chao-Tung Chen, born in 1991, graduated in 2019 with a Master’s degree from the Fine Arts Department of Taipei National University of the Arts. Currently, he lives and works in New Taipei City. He’s work often uses the visual characteristics released by space, materials, and objects as a foundation. Through techniques such as extraction, displacement, analysis, and replication, she explores the discrepancies between windowed visual experiences and physical reality, treating these deviations as vessels for emotion and memory. Recently, her focus has shifted to examining the relationship between the visual structures of urban and domestic spaces and their users, seeking to break free from the standardized, functional structures of daily production to uncover hidden spatial poetry beneath the surface.
Chao-Tung Chen's recent solo exhibitions include: Depth Recovery at Ertz Random Space, Tainan (2024); Depth Calculation Formula for Gap at Pier-2 Art Center, Kaohsiung (2023); Bandwidth at Beyond Gallery Plus One, Taipei (2022); and Offshore Stardust at Absolute Space for the Arts, Tainan (2021). His work has also been featured at institutions such as Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB) (2023), Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts (2022), National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (2020), Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts (2019), and Hangaram Arts Museum in Korea(2018).
「填海造陸」是一個從深處向上疊加的過程,城市的自來水、電力、下水道等系統也一併於建造的過程匯入其中,最終到達我們所站的地平面。草皮的、木板的、磁磚的、洗石子的、磨石子的、水泥粉光的地面都是我們視覺可見的樣式,但在這表面之下不可被看見的系統是如何行走的,城市是如何的被建構與運行的。作品描繪著我對生活可見縫隙的觀察。既然有縫隙,就有一個相異於在縫隙這端的空間存在
裡面。藉著水溝蓋下、水管內、排水孔內、牆的縫隙、磁磚縫隙等縫隙內裏的想像及建構,以向地底和內部前進的方式,來實施我想像的填海造陸。不是由深處向上,而是反向的向深處前進。
"Land reclamation" is a process of layering upward from the depths. As cities are built, systems like water supply, electricity, and sewage integrate into this process, eventually reaching the ground level we stand on. Grass, wooden boards, tiles, terrazzo, stone wash, and polished cement are all surface textures visible to us. However, how do the unseen systems beneath these surfaces flow? How is the city constructed and operated? This work depicts my observations of visible gaps in everyday life. The presence of a gap suggests the existence of a space distinct from the one on this side of the gap. By imagining and constructing the unseen realms within spaces like drains, pipes, drainage holes, wall cracks, and tile seams, I undertake a form of imaginative land reclamation. But instead of layering upward from the depths, I envision a process that moves downward and inward, filling and extending into hidden spaces.
