Lee Yung-Chih
Lee Yung-Chih, born in Xinzhaung, New Taipei City, earned his master’s degree in new media art at the Taipei National University of the Arts. Coming of age in the urban landscape bristling with factory noise and litter on streets, he tends to present the absurdity, sentimentality, calmness and aloofness he experienced in his life by displacing and appropriating art forms and folk design in his works that reveal his seemingly futile political agenda via the camouflage of imitation and representation. His work has also been included in exhibitions across Taiwan, Singapore, and Indonesia with recent major exhibitions and events including the Biennale Jogja in Indonesia, The Secret South: From Cold War Perspective to Global South in Museum Collection at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, the fifth Asia Discovers Asia Meeting for Contemporary Performance (ADAM) at the Taipei Performing Arts Center, the 2021 Asian Art Biennial Phantasmapolis at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and 2022: Selected in C-LAB「CREATORS」project and curated series public art events.
