夏本度.德|Sharbendu De

Sharbendu De is a contemporary lens-based artist, educator and a writer, deeply invested in the climate and ecological discourse, indigenous narratives and multispecies ecologies with a particular interest in the Eastern Himalayas. His conceptual approach to photography has been called ‘cinematic stills’ and ‘tableaus’ for their emblematic style.
De has an MA in Photojournalism from the University of Westminster, London (2010). Over the last 15 years, he has taught photography and visual communications across universities and cultural institutions in India. A firm believer of community building, in 2023, he founded an online climate education program titled Decoding Anthropocene to support South Asian visual storytellers working on climate and ecological storytelling. After two decades of living in Delhi, in 2023, he relocated to Sikkim in the Eastern Himalayas.
