楊傑懷|Yang Jie-Huai

1992 年出生於臺灣臺中,畢業於國立臺北藝術大學新媒體藝術學系碩士班,現為視覺藝術家。
楊傑懷透過錄像、攝影、觀念和裝置等混合形式進行創作,以此探問科技媒體、其視覺性,以及擴延的影像,如何在人類的精神生活中生產和運作,甚至成為精神的框架。作品是在人類情感與編碼的世界之間無法對準的空隙中,搭建一幅既荒謬又浪漫的情境。
近期展覽包括:2022 年「愛在上線時,失連即失戀」(臺灣當代文化實驗場,臺北,臺灣);2021 年「我沒有愛人的能力」楊傑懷個展(其玟畫廊,臺北,臺灣);2021 年「臺北/福爾摩沙花園:島嶼壯遊」(奧地利林茲電子藝術節)等。
楊傑懷於 2023 年獲得「臺南新藝獎」(臺南市政府文化局,臺南,臺灣);2018 年獲得「南瀛獎」優選(新營文化中心,臺南,臺灣);同年獲得「全國美術展」入選(國立臺灣美術館,臺中,臺灣)。

YANG Jie-Huai
Yang was born in Taichung, Taiwan, in 1992, graduated from Taipei National University of the Arts with a MFA in New Media Art. He currently lives and works in Taipei as a visual artist.
Yang uses video, photography, concept, and installation to question how technological media, its visuality, and expanded images are produced and operated in daily life and even become a framework of the human mind. He is trying to construct a scene that is both absurd and romantic in the gap between human emotions and the coded world.
Recent exhibitions include the 2022 "Out of service, out of love", C-Lab, Taipei, Taiwan; 2021 Yang Jie-Huai Solo Exhibition "I'm not capable of love", Chi-Wen Gallery, Taipei, Taiwan; 2021 "Garden Taipei/ Formosa: Taiwan Grand Tour," at the Ars Electronica. In 2023, Yang won the Next Art Tainan Award, Tainan City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau, Tainan, Taiwan; in 2018, he won the Excellence Award of Nanying Award, Xinying Cultural Center, Tainan, Taiwan; in the same year was shortlisted for the National Art Exhibition, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taichung, Taiwan.

「你找什麼?」是男同志約會軟體上常用的開場白和招呼用語,這句話所探問的是「你期待在約會軟體上面發生什麼樣的關係」。一句開放式的問題,它所投射的是可能是人們更廣泛的慾望。人的生命本來就是一個不斷找尋的過程,然而,大多的時候我們未必找到什麼。在人造的影像世界裡,我們其實「沒找什麼」,因為我們一覽無遺,卻為此感到茫然。
《沒找什麼,你呢?》是一則關於「觀看慾望」的寓言故事,透過一部移動的機器演繹。當中包含兩種「觀看介面」的對照——網路訊息的介面,以及透鏡的介面。
在作品的劇本裡,兩名素不相識的男子在約會軟體上相遇,各自在找尋慾望的出口。剛好他們都嚮往在野外無拘無束地裸露,因此相約走入森林展開探索。夜晚提著手電筒找路,走著走著,他們來到了一處連結影像世界與物理世界的通道,那是一面透鏡所構成的通道。
透鏡作為各種視覺機器的基本元素,它創造了古典繪畫的透視法,也創造了眼鏡、望遠鏡、顯微鏡、投影機、相機、錄影機與監視器,這些視覺機器不斷重新塑造我們能夠感知的現實,將我們帶往還沒有被看見的地方。
There is a standard greeting on gay dating apps "what are you looking for?" that is a question to ask, "what kind of relationship do you expect to have on a dating app." Such an open-ended question that projects people's any kind of desires. Human life is a process of looking for meaning. However, most of the time, we may not get anything. In the artificial world of images, we look for nothing because we can see everything and feel dazed.
"Nothing to look for, how about you?" is a fable about seeing desire, performed by a moving machine. There are two kinds of viewing interface comparisons in this fable, one is the interface of messages, and the other is the interface of the lens.
In the script of the work, two strangers are meeting and looking for their desire via a dating app. They both yearn to be naked in the wild, so they set a date to explore a forest together. At night, they wander with a torch until finally arriving at a tunnel, a portal formed by a lens connecting the imagery and physical worlds.
As the fundamental element of vision machines, the lens has given birth to perspectivism in classical painting and brought about glasses, telescopes, microscopes, projectors, cameras, video recorders, and monitors. These vision machines continue to reshape our perceived reality, taking us to places not yet seen.
