Ting Kuan-Yun

Ting Kuan-Yun, born in New Taipei City, holds a master’s degree in Applied Arts from National Taiwan University of Arts.she specializes in fiber art and first encountered textile creation during her university years. She later dedicated himself to exploring fiber arts in graduate school. Ting’s works combine the softness of fiber materials with abstract thinking, utilizing techniques such as hand drawing, computer embroidery, and manual assembly to present unique visual effects and emotional depth. Her creative inspiration comes from everyday objects, and she engages in deep contemplation through prolonged observation. Inspired by her experience as a parent, she incorporates elements such as toys and building blocks into her works, while also introducing new materials like clay, showcasing a multi-layered approach to creation. Balancing the roles of both mother and artist, Ting continuously pushes the boundaries of her creative practice, deepening her understanding of materials and forms within the constraints of limited time. The works use the flexibility of fiber and three-dimensional structures to create dreamlike visual effects, exploring the subtle relationships between objects, materials, and emotions. Through these pieces, she weaves together reason and emotion, craftsmanship and art, the everyday and the fantastical in a delicate and harmonious interplay.
