Wu Te-Shin

Grace Wu, born in Taiwan, lives and works in Taipei. Wu currently studies MFA at Taipei National University of the Arts. Wu’s works are mostly painting, focusing on contemporary life and the essence of seeing.
The pursuit of a smooth surface in painting stems from the seeing experiences in the very era. Contemporary imagery has transformed how people gaze at "reality," turning everyday landscapes into fleeting, sleek, and flat visual impressions. Screens have blurred the physical details of artworks, and within the digital realm, it is even easy to enhance or beautify a piece, resulting in what can be perceived as a "better" version.
Through abstract painting, Wu represents contemporary life reconfiguring visual experiences with layering acrylic on mediums. The approach to smoothness recreate and reflect contemporary modes of seeing through the surface.
